bad dessert, good dessert

coconut ice cream. 

after messing up the best brownie recipe in the world, 

we decided to just pick up some store bought stuff. 

not as good, but i do like coconut ice cream!

ok, i know. it's lame. i promise, i'm looking in to it. 

(some gnomes out there have some explaining to do).

today is....

freedom of information day!

so, here's some free information: 

1. i don't like doing taxes. i do ♥ turbotax.
2. cars are a nuisance. let's make a collective decision to get rid of them. or i'm moving to europe.
3. my grandparents' house in West Texas is the coolest. (and so are they).
4. my goal this week is to do some sort of exercise. i just have to figure out when;).
5. i'm going to finally admit my hair looks best short. i think.
6. the park is calling mine and Lars' names.
7. so is a new puppy...sadly, our apartment doesn't seem to want to accommodate that.
8. mad men is terribly addicting. darn you netflix.
9. i'm read out. translation = i haven't read anything i really loved in awhile.
and i've read alot. that's what happens when you study writing. it's tragic.
10. i have an allergic reaction to sleeping at night. i'm talking hives. :(


so, i'm off to sleep....since it's daylight and the hives are gone:)

ahhhhhhhh. (big sigh of relief)

last day of winter quarter! 

took my last final today. 

and had a celebratory class lunch afterwards. 

we don't normally look this happy ;)

whatever am i going to do with a whole week of no school??

i love to bake.

wouldn't it be nice if i could just bake and eat all day? 

oh, wait, that IS what i'm going to do...all next week. 

sort of. 

it's the thought that counts though.

the molly dog.

unfortunately for her, molly, my in-laws' dog, is staying with us this weekend. 

i say unfortunately, because she's a little high-strung, and

she really doesn't like Lars - 

he, on the other hand, thinks they're best friends. 

she is constantly trying to get away from him, and he is constantly following her around, 

trying to get her to play...

they are both clueless.

snail mail

handwritten letters. 

does anyone send handwritten letters anymore? 

i have to admit the only person i send snail mail to is my grandmother. 

(she doesn't even own a computer. i love that). 

letters from her always contain these hilarious clippings
from hand-outs she gets from the community center (i think?),
where she goes to eat lunch and socialize every day.
they are chock-full of silly jokes and helpful advice on how to live your life.

i do love getting letters in the mail. doesn't everyone?
why don't we do it anymore?
is there any way to bring it back?

or how the start of lent became fat tuesday...it's mind-boggling (and ridiculous).

but i do love beignets (aka powdered sugar donuts)

my new job.

in other exciting news, it's been officially proven that i'm not entirely useless.
that's right. i was hired to be copy editor for SCAD's online media site,
The Connector, and quarterly print magazine, SCAN,

starting in spring!

and obviously, i will be protecting the upper half of my face my identity from now on.

if you don't know, we live in the tiniest one bedroom apartment ever.

okay, that's not entirely true. We do have a wonderful walk-in closet, 

to which many of my class essays are in-debted (more on that later). 

But, there was sadly no room for our dining room table when we moved in, 

so it is currently disassembled and hiding in the aforementioned closet. 

all that just to say that we eat dinner japanese style at our coffee table every night, 

and here is the amazing picnic-esque meal that we ate for dinner: 

our chief saturday outing/entertainment was to Whole Foods,

where we picked up another bottle of italian soda, 

plus some olives for our cheese and crackers! olive olives:)

but so many dollars are needed to buy things at Whole Foods! :(

also, i'm currently loving salads chock full of veggies, berries, seeds, cheese. 

P.S. notice Lars staring at our food. he is in such denial.

the big snooze.

sleeping in + breakfast in bed

there's something amazingly delightful about sleeping until you wake up.

i wouldn't recommend it on a daily basis, of course. (how self-indulgent!)

but every now and then, when you want to procrastinate the looming pile of homework, 

it's really quite nice. 

especially if you can have someone make breakfast and put it in front of your nose. 

then there's really nothing quite like it.
