this weekend life + an extra day off

the birthday cake i brought to our five guys date with some friends on thursday night to embarrass loverboy;) also the cake i might be slowly devouring all by myself. apparently no one else loves box cake as much as i do?

this is what angst looks like. also, serenity. but these days, mostly angst.

a few pictures from our busy, busy weekend. in between all the church life activities, birthday celebrations, birth classes and chores, we've also been looking at houses every weekend (no luck yet, oh this house hunting is hard!) it makes for a busy life round these parts. i was partly thankful for a day off just so i could get to some of the house cleaning that we've been neglecting for waaaay too long. and i barely made a dent. sigh. also why we haven't had any over in a while. but as loverboy says, that's just where we're at right now. so, another busy week, here we come...

last week & this weekend

i made spaghetti sauce because of this post (and i have to say it's only ho hum. maybe if i'd used san marzano tomatoes it would have been better), jazz made a pizza, we almost went out to dinner but ended up at whole foods instead (and got a cupcake while we were at it),
i worked on my novel/thesis, jazz went for some bike rides,
i had a few meltdowns, got over it, rinsed and repeated, 

jazz was patient and understanding, we watched a super stupid movie, 

i met a friend a the original house of pancakes (good stuff), and we went to bed early. 

or jazz did. i took sleeping aids and still stayed up. :o/

the end.

it's becoming a busy week and now i can't even remember what all happened this weekend...
good thing we took a few pictures during dinner at tartufo saturday night, so we at least
remember that deliciousness! 

p.s. always get the namesake pizza. oh yum.

mellow mushroom

in our never-ending quest for the perfect pizza

(which i'm pretty sure can still be found at Antico),

we decided to hit up mellow mushroom 

after a grocery run, this evening.

it was nice to be out and about like real people,

but i have to say, it was definitely chain pizza.

i remember liking it better in Austin.

oh well, i'm not going to turn my nose up at pizza!

apparently, we really love pizza. i mean, really love it.

like, love it so much we realized that we actually have four empty pizza boxes 

waiting to be thrown out. from this week alone. it's a little scary. 

to be fair, the thing that happened is...

we ordered pizza last weekend. normal, right?

then, it was $8 pizza day at Whole Foods on tuesday, so...

then on friday, our normal friday night plans fell through, and we 

found ourselves with a night all to ourselves. what did we do? 

Got more pizza at Whole Foods. 

Yesterday, we discovered that after only eating three slices friday night, 

we had accidentally left the whole pizza sitting in the cold oven all night. 

sad! well, we were so sad that we just had to order another pizza. 

and that's the story. 

i have no good explanation for the madness. 

if you could only eat one thing for a week, 

what would it be?
